Aegean Airlines, a member of Star Alliance network, is Greece’s largest full-service airline, carrying 6.1 million passengers in 2012. The company invests on strengthening its international presence and on supporting the Greek tourism both in Athens and in regional airports. The Aegean fleet consists of 30 Airbus A320 family aircraft with an average age of 4.5 years. The Company operates 180 routes, 158 of which are international and 22 domestic. As a Star Alliance member, AEGEAN’s passengers have increased connectivity to 1.329 destinations of Star Alliance network in 194 countries. In 2012, AEGEAN was ranked 'Best Regional Airline Europe' in a worldwide survey of more than 18 million airline passengers conducted by independent research firm Skytrax for its 2012 World Airline Awards. It is the third time that the company receives this distinction, the previous being in 2009 and in 2011. In its 14 years history, Aegean has been awarded six times by the European Regions Airline Association (ERA). Furthermore, the company has been repeatedly awarded by the Athens International Airport as the greatest contributor to the airport’s passenger volume increase.
