We, human beings, live in the cycle of nature by which we all eventually return to the earth. However, many of the " things " produced and used by human beings will remain on Earth as debris and wastes in the forms of gases, liquids, and solids. The repetition of this cycle will gradually turn our mother Earth into a waste land on which no further life would be able to exist. Nichia places a high value on environmental responsibility. Under this unified corporate philosophy, all Nichia group members are striving towards " Monotukuri" (Creation and development of fine and elaborate products) for superior performance, extended life and ever increasing reliability. In the pursuit of these activities, Nichia Corporation and its group members fulfill their pledge to be a valued corporate citizen in the communities where we all exist. Ever Researching for a Brighter World Having "Ever Researching for a Brighter World" as our motto, Nichia has grown in the field of manufacturing and sales of fine chemicals, particularly inorganic luminescent materials (phosphors). In the process of the challenging pursuit of brighter luminescent and light-emitting materials, we succeeded in developing and commercializing the super high brightness Blue LED in 1993. It was accepted with great amazement in the related industries throughout the world. Since the first announcement of the Blue LED in 1993, Nitride-based LEDs in different emission colors ranging from Ultraviolet to Yellow have been contributing to the diversification of LED application fields. In addition to LEDs, a lot of resources are now being focused on the R/D of bluish purple laser diodes, which will definitely play a key role for the further expansion of the information media industry. We have a belief that Nitride-based semiconductors will become one of the most exciting areas of the semiconductor industry in the near future. We hope that Nichia continue to be a company which will be able to make a contribution to the world by evolving its original and unique technologies into the actual manufacturing.
